For up to 4-foot critical fall heights over a vertically draining base. The 20mm thick SP Series shock pad provides an optimal balance of safety, and impact performance, closely replicating the feel of quality natural turf. SERIES/20 ensures efficient vertical drainage, keeping playground surfaces dry and safe even after heavy rains. Engineered as a cost-effective alternative to our PowerBase products, SP Series maintains high standards of durability and longevity, offering a reliable and budget-friendly option for creating secure and enjoyable playground environments for children.

For up to 6-foot critical fall heights and when lateral drainage is needed. PowerBase/YSR shock pads are specifically engineered to enhance a wide range of artificial turf applications, including playground safety and performance for children. Designed to provide superior impact absorption, these pads ensure a safer play environment by reducing the risk of injuries from falls. The innovative design of PowerBase/YSR offers excellent drainage, preventing water accumulation and keeping playground surfaces dry and safe. Additionally, the 25mm thick pads provide outstanding turf stability, ensuring a consistent and reliable play surface. Made from high-quality materials, PowerBase/YSR pads are durable and resilient, maintaining their protective qualities over time. This makes them an ideal choice for creating safe, fun, and enduring playgrounds that children can enjoy with confidence.

For up to 9-foot critical fall heights, including lateral drainage. Each patented feature of the 50mm PowerBase/PLAY50 panel is meticulously engineered to optimize safety, ensuring superior impact absorption to reduce the risk of injuries from falls. PLAY/50 shock pads fulfill important factors for playgrounds, including consistency, long-term safety, and ease of installation. Additionally, like all our Brock pads, these pads are made from food-grade polypropylene without PFAS. Precision engineering ensures that these pads integrate seamlessly with various turf systems, making PowerBase/PLAY50 an ideal solution for playgrounds that prioritize safety, durability, and performance.

For up to 12-foot critical fall heights, including lateral drainage. Brock’s engineering team has designed PLAY/80, the first single-layer shock pad that will pass impact testing at 10′-12′ critical fall heights when used with common artificial turf systems in playgrounds. The pad is 80mm thick and enhances some of the proven design features from our 2” PowerBase/PLAY50 pad. Because some owners want the maximum protection, and playground equipment is getting taller, it was time for an easy-to-install single pad as opposed to layering pads to achieve the same results. Made from molded expanded polypropylene like other Brock pads, PowerBase/PLAY80 includes high-volume drainage benefits and unprecedented impact absorption.

HIC assesses the potential for head injuries from falls, providing a benchmark for the effectiveness of playground surfaces in preventing serious harm. Brock’s playground shock pads are engineered to significantly reduce HIC values, offering superior impact absorption compared to non-shock pad surfaces. This means that whether a child takes a tumble from six, nine, or even twelve feet, Brock shock pads provide an unparalleled level of protection. Head Impact Test

Head Injury Criterion (HIC)

The HIC test correlates with the likelihood and severity of a head injury. It has been used for decades in the auto industry and for playground surfaces, and was adopted by ASTM for athletic fields in 2018. The HIC impact test drops a 10.1 lb. hemisphere projectile (curved like a human head) multiple times from increasing heights and determines the surface’s Critical Fall Height. The higher the Critical Fall Height, the safer the surface. A good natural grass field will produce a minimum critical fall height of about 6 feet or higher.

BrockFILL is an infill option for playgrounds, offering a significant advantage in reducing surface heat.
