The goal of any artificial turf surface is to mimic a high-quality, natural grass playing field. Achieving this requires a more sophisticated approach than laying “rug over rock”. Think of Brock ShockPad SERIES as the “intel inside” of your field.
The ShockPad SERIES comes in several thicknesses, from 14mm to 20mm, depending on the turf you select, always keeping the performance of the overall system in mind. Fields that utilize a SP shock pad demonstrate the safety, speed and impact performance that replicates a quality natural turf surface; plus they drain fast and last longer.
Brock’s ShockPad (SP) Series will outperform other shock pads nearly twice as thick
Product Features
Stable – Large, robust dovetail interlock makes installation fast and easy.
Porous – The open-pore structure allows water to pass vertically through the material.
Durable – Micro coating bonds the material, maintaining the porosity of the pad.
Dynamic – Interaction of particles keeps field stiff for running, soft for impacts.
Achieving the proper performance levels for Impacts, Heat and Traction in a quality artificial turf defines modern sports surface design.
By using the various standardized tests, we can now create an artificial surface as close to natural as ever before. The green areas designate the desired performance ranges of quality natural turf. The spokes indicate the performance results of the artificial turf field systems described in the center. Keep in mind, the turf pile height ranged from 1.5”-2.0” and consisted of products from every brand of turf, yet all of the systems performed well.
Frequently Asked Questions
The ShockPad Series is available in thicknesses from 14mm to 20mm with vertical drainage rated at 250 inches per hour. Panels are molded from expanded polypropylene and interlock without glues or tapes. The SP14 is produced in Pennsylvania and is the recommended pad for the Brock Baseball System; the SP17XL is used in higher-demand installations including Camping World Stadium.
The ShockPad Series is the practical choice when vertical drainage is sufficient and budget matters — turf replacements, community fields, and projects where the site already handles stormwater well. It delivers Brock’s core impact protection and Gmax guarantee at a lower cost point than the PowerBase line, without asking the program to compromise on athlete safety.
Performance is verified through Gmax, HIC, and foot impact testing, measured when new and across the life of the surface. All Series SP products carry a Gmax guarantee of 120 for the life of the field. The line is Cradle to Cradle Certified, independently verifying material health including PFAS and restricted substance compliance.
The ShockPad Series is manufactured from expanded polypropylene — non-toxic, resistant to bacteria and fungi, and fully recyclable at end of life. It contains no intentionally added PFAS and produces no microplastics. The SP14 is manufactured in Pennsylvania, shortening the supply chain relative to imported alternatives.
All Series SP products carry a 16-year warranty along with a Gmax guarantee of 120 for the life of the field. If your project requires a longer warranty term, PowerBase YSR and PowerBase PRO both carry 25-year coverage.
